European Commission releases EU Agricultural Outlook 2024-2035

Last week, the European Commission presented its annual report ‘EU Agricultural Outlook 2024-2035’, outlining the forecasted development of EU agriculture over the next decade.

Drivers and challenges for European dairy sector
Among others, the report discusses the key drivers and challenges for the European dairy sector over the next decade. The European Commission sees the EU dairy sector’s commitment to more sustainable production and to helping achieve the EU’s ambitious environmental targets as one of the most important developments in the European dairy market.

The EU dairy sector is expected to maintain its resilience and global leadership thanks to strong domestic demand and a strategic shift to higher value-added products such as cheese and whey. Raw milk prices for EU dairy farmers are likely to remain high, driven by the high demand for butterfat.
