FAO Food Outlook: increase in dairy production in Asia

The Food Outlook of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) brings forecasts of global milk production and dairy exports. The latest Food Outlook shows that global milk production is growing by 1.4 percent to 978 million tons, with China and India showing the biggest increases. Furthermore the global trade in dairy products remains stable. Worldwide exports are increasing slightly (+0.8 percent), with the largest increase expected for cheese. 

According to the forecasts in the half-yearly Food Outlook, global exports will reach a volume of 85.3 million tons (milk equivalents) this year. This is a slight increase (0.8 percent) compared to 2023. The expected quantity is still 2.5 percent below the average level of 2020-2022.
