NZO chair speaks with EU agriculture ministers

The chair of the Dutch Dairy Association, Roelof Joosten, sat with European Union agriculture ministers today to share his thoughts on the Dutch dairy sector. The meeting took place at Rik Lagendijk’s dairy farm in Diessen, where the ministers gathered on the occasion of an unofficial EU agriculture summit.

Joosten spoke about the Dutch dairy sector’s strong position that has resulted from investments in sustainability and quality. According to Joosten, it is partly thanks to these investments that the Netherlands is particularly well placed to profit from the growing global demand for dairy.

After touring the dairy farm, the ministers enjoyed a cheese buffet which included Gouda Holland, an official European “Protected Geographical Indication” product.
