Prestigious IDF Prize of Excellence goes to Dr. Stephan Peters

At the IDF World Dairy Summit 2023 in Chicago, Dr. Stephan Peters (NZO’s Nutrition, Health and Sustainability Manager) was awarded the prestigious IDF Prize of Excellence. This distinguished award, presented by IDF President Piercristiano Brazzale, recognizes and celebrates his outstanding contribution to IDF in the areas of nutrition, health and sustainability.

Stephan Peters received the award for his considerable work with IDF’s communications and storytelling around the vital role dairy plays in healthy and sustainable nutrition. Peters, who has also chaired the IDF Standing Committee on Dairy Nutrition & Health (SCNH) since June 2018, has been pivotal in recent years in setting the IDF agenda in the important fields of nutrition and sustainability.

Positive aspects of dairy integrated into sustainability debate
Stephan Peters successfully strengthened the position of dairy in sustainability discussions. One way was to integrate the nutritional value and health outcomes of entire foods with the matrix effects of dairy with respect to our diet’s CO2 emissions and footprint. This has contributed significantly to a nuanced discussion in recent years on the role of dairy in a sustainable and healthy diet.

IDF is the expertise and advocacy organization for the global dairy sector. IDF has over 40 member countries, which together account for 75% of the world’s milk production.
