Health Council confirms: “A few servings of dairy every day”

In the “Guidelines for a Healthy Diet 2015” published today, the Health Council of the Netherlands confirmed the importance of dairy products (milk, yogurt and cheese) as part of a healthy diet. Dairy contains vital nutrients that our bodies need.

The Health Council therefore advised to continue our current levels of dairy consumption. The summary reads, “Have a few servings of dairy per day, including milk or yogurt.”

Its recommendation to substitute real butter would have little benefit to overall human health considering how rarely it is consumed.

To develop its recommendations, the Health Council consulted many diet and nutritional experts. During this period of consultation, the NZO also provided its own, scientifically-backed vision for nutrition.
