NVWA positive about ‘very high level’ of food safety of Dutch dairy

The Dutch Dairy Association (NZO) and the Dutch Federation of Agriculture and Horticulture (LTO Nederland) recognise the findings of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) in its recently published risk analysis of the dairy chain. The report is a recognition for the way in which the Dutch dairy chain guarantees the food safety of its products.

The NVWA appreciates the approach of the Dutch dairy industry as a whole. ‘The risk management in the industrial processing of milk is good. This results in a very high level of food safety for milk and dairy products. This is a satisfying conclusion’, according to the NVWA in the report.

For guaranteeing the safety of milk and dairy products the dairy sector has its own quality assurance system, which is based on European and Dutch legislation. Additionally, dairy companies make extra demands with respect to the quality, the safety of milk and dairy products and to animal health and animal welfare. The quality system is continuously optimised.
